Dr. Cătălin Constantin Badiu

is a cardiovascular surgeon trained at the Deutsches Herzzentrum München/Germany, who practices as an independent physician at the Cardiac Center of Monza Hospital.

As a specialist in cardiovascular surgery, Dr. Catalin C. Badiu focuses on minimally invasive cardiac surgery, aortic, mitral, and tricuspid valve repairs, as well as complete arterial coronary bypass. Valve repairs and ascending aortic aneurysms have been part of Dr. Badiu’s research domain, leading to the publication of a significant number of specialized works in this field in the most renowned international journals (ISI Thompson/PubMed) (see list below).

Dr. Badiu trained and worked for 12 years under the guidance of Professor Rüdiger Lange at the German Heart Centre Munich (DHM) in München/Germany. During this time, he served as the chief physician of the cardiovascular surgery department for the last five years, having performed over 1200 open-heart surgeries. He was the one who developed the program for ascending aortic prosthetic replacement with preservation or repair of the aortic valve for patients with ascending aortic aneurysms at the German Heart Centre Munich.

In December 2014, after completing the course titled “Mitral Valve Reconstruction: Does Interventional Therapy Replace Conventional Surgery?” presented to the Faculty Senate of the School of Medicine at the Technische Universität München, Dr. Badiu obtained the qualification and title of “Dr. med. habil.” and thus the “Ius Docendi,” the right to teach in the medical specialty at the university level. In May 2015, he obtained the “Venia Legendi” and the right to carry the title of “Privatdozent” at the School of Medicine of the Technische Universität München.

Dr. Badiu studied medicine at Ludwig-Maximilians Universität München and Technische Universität München, and completed his doctoral studies in medical sciences at the Technische Universität München with the distinction of “Magna cum Laude” in 2007.
